How to add manufacturing processes
Manufacturing processes describe which activity (weaving, dyeing, cutting, etc.) happens where. Depending on where you add one, it means something slightly different:
- On a company — declares that your company is capable of a given process at all (your manufacturing palette). Set this during company creation/editing, on the Manufacturing step.
- On a facility — declares that a specific production site performs that process, drawn from your company's palette. See How to add facilities.
- On a component — records that a specific process was actually used to make that component, optionally tied to the facility where it happened.
To add a manufacturing process to a component:
- Open the component and go to Manufacturing Processes → New Process.
- If your company has more than one facility, choose which facility performed the process — only facilities that offer that activity will be available.
- Choose the activity. The list is filtered to processes valid for the component's category, and (once a facility is selected) to processes that facility actually performs.
- Click Save. You can add as many processes as the component went through, one at a time.
Prerequisite: a facility must already have that capability enabled (see How to add facilities) before you can attach it to a component's manufacturing process at that facility.
Once a component has at least one manufacturing process, you can add specifications to it — see How to add specifications.
